Game Result: Grantsburg 40, Elk Mound 7 |
Word is that John Chenal paints the field before
home games, drives the bus to away games and makes pre-game meals on Thursdays
from scratch. This may well be just about the mythology that follows
Grantsburg's do it all football player. Chenal led the Pirates to a convincing
40-7 win over Elk Mound last Friday in Level 3 of the WIAA playoffs. Chenal ran
for a meager 131 yards by his standards but that only begins to tell the story
of his performance. He also caught 2 passes for 92 yards and a score, as well as
throwing a TD pass for 24 yards but we are not done telling his story yet.
Chenal led the team with 15 total tackles and also intercepted 2 passes. Oh and
he punted 3 times for a 44.3 average. Just another great performance by the
Grantsburg senior. On the year, Chenal has rushed for 2209 yards and 35 TDs
while only playing the first half in half of his games this season. The Pirates
face one of the best teams in the state of Wisconsin in Amherst in Level 4 but
win or lose the legend of John Chenal will be told for years to come. |
