Game Result: Somerset 33, Bloomer 10 |
Tyler Ledbeter took over the reins of the
Somerset offense in game 4 of last year's schedule and has been lighting up
defenses with his option reads ever since. Friday night Bloomer shutdown the
bruising runs of fullback Vernon Breault but could not contain the clever reads
of Ledbeter who then used his blazing speed to make the most of the openings.
After the Blackhawks had taken a 3-0 lead of a field goal, Somerset mishandled
the following kickoff but recovered on their own 16. Two plays later, Ledbeter
found a cutback seam and sprinted 84 yards for the go ahead TD and the Spartans
never looked back. Ledbeter followed that blow with a spirit crushing 19 yard
touchdown pass with only 5 seconds left in the half. After the half, Ledbeter
scored 3 more times on the ground to ice the playoff win. Somerset now faces a
familiar foe in Level 3 in St. Croix Central. Last season both teams met in
Level 3 with the Spartans ending SCC's season with a 37-0 whitewash. With a
Madison trip in their sights, Somerset has a score to settle and that means not
settling for Silver at Camp Randall. |
