Prescott had an impressive win over Seymour in Level 1. Knowing Seymour was going to get points with an explosive passing game, the Cardinals took advantage of the extra possessions to score 46 points. QB Teddy Bernick was on his game, completing 11-17 passes for 298 yards and 2 TDs. Their award for winning is having to face number one ranked D4 powerhouse Freedom in Level 2. Freedom beat a Middle Border team, St. Croix Central, in the first round by a score of 28-7. Comparatively, Prescott beat the Panthers in Week 6, 39-20. Freedom was able to contain the St. Croix Central running game, allowing the Panthers only 167 yards on the ground. If Freedom can make Prescott one dimensional, the Cardinals will be in trouble. But even then, Teddy Bernick throwing the ball just may be enough.

Regis, historically, just doesn't let down after big wins. Instead of taking a Cloverbelt forfeit, the Ramblers filled the spot with a one time non-conference opponent. Regis, (212 student enrollment), beat East Moline United Township, (1740 student enrollment), in Week 9, 36-35. So one can imagine that facing Fall Creek in Level 1, Regis was too relaxed against the Crickets considering the Ramblers shut out of Fall Creek 26-0 in Week 5. Regis barely survived, scratching out a 29-28 win. Now on to Level 2. Luther is the smallest school in the Coulee conference. The Knights suffered their only two losses to highly ranked Aquinas and West Salem. Luther eliminated Ladysmith 43-14 in Level 1 play. The Knights had too much size on both sides of the the line for the Lumberjacks. Luther has a balanced offense behind QB Jackson Kendall and RB Landon Bryant. The defense has only allowed 101 yards per game but that stat will be sorely challenged by the Regis double wing running attack. At Carson Park, Regis has been unbeatable.

This Level 2 match-up is the classic finesse versus brute power. Stanley-Boyd statistically looks balanced on offense but the keys to their game are the big chunk yardage plays from QB Carter Isenberger. Isenberger is accurate and efficient. In Level 1 against Spooner, the Orioles quarterback was 11-14 for 240 yards and 2 TDs. The Stanley-Boyd defense did give up yards on the ground to Spooner but also forced 4 turnovers to keep the Railroaders at bay. Northwestern averages 317 yards rushing per game and exceeded that in their Level 1 win over Colby. RB Cooper Lawton heads a backfield that returned all four starters from a year ago. The Tigers are on a 6 game win streak where they are averaging 56 points per game. Northwestern's keys to victory will be no turnovers, big advantage in first downs, and very few big plays given up on defense. Cold weather and home field won't hurt either.

P/A turned to their run game in 2024 after graduating a dynamic offensive core from 2023. RB Justin Bergmann leads the backfield with 14 touchdowns and a rushing attack that averages 295 yards per game. The Eagles ran for 282 yards in their Level 1 win against Eleva-Strum but also threw for 159 yards to showcase their versatility. Against a solid Boyceville defense, the Eagles need their share of first downs to control possessions in this game. The Bulldogs have a challenging scheme on offense, led by QB Carson Roemhild. Roemhild threw for 2 touchdowns and ran for three more in Boyceville's Level 1 win over Turtle Lake. Home field is a big plus in this game.

When McDonell and Owen-Withee met in Week 3, O-W was playing like a machine. Nearly every possession by O-W ended with a rushing touchdown in their 58-27 win. The Macks' put up 397 yards of offense but were never in the game as O-W pounded out 444 yards rushing. Seven weeks later these two teams meet again. McDonell easily dispatched Newman Catholic 52-8 in the first round. Owen-Withee had a similar result, a 60-6 win over Port Edwards. The Macks have a couple of things going for them. McDonell knows exactly what Owen-Withee will do on offense and they need to make adjustments. Secondly, Owen-Withee looked mortal in their final two games of the regular season. Clayton out gained O-W and Gilman came within a missed two point conversion of sending that game into overtime. The defense was the difference with 3 interceptions in each game to keep Owen-Withee unbeaten. The Macks need to not turn the ball over and they have a chance.
